To fill the void in our lives we are going to try to accumulate material possessions! Actually, the buying spree all started because we needed a new mattress. To be more specific Roxanne needed a new mattress, I was perfectly comfortable in the 5 inch divot in our Sealy mattress with the pillow top. I just thought of it as a hammock. Roxanne's divot (although less spectacular than my grand canyon divot) was painful for her back. What made this particularly frustrating was that we just got the Sealy in October, and it sucked so bad we had to get rid of it in less than 6 months!
Anyway, we splurged on a tempurpedic mattress, it was recommended by nearly everyone we asked and Rx's doctor as well! Although their logo is a little racy, we decided to go with it....
If we were getting a new mattress, we decided we should get an actual bed frame as well. We trusted the Swedes with the space age memory foam mattress, so we decided to go with them on the frame as well. .. . ..Next stop Ikea!!!
For those who have never been, Ikea is quite an experience. Their furniture ranges from utterly utilitarian and cheap to high quality and expensive. Although at either end of the spectrum it is usually a bargain as you have to put it together yourself. Also, the store is huge! You get a map when you enter, it is like a big maze, kind of intimidating the first time, the novelty wears off the second time, and it was annoying the third time when we knew exactly where we needed to go, but had to use a GPS unit to get there. They sell Swedish meatballs there too which is neat although you have to assemble them yourself with meat, sauce and an Allen wrench.
Here are our new friends Mark and Kelly helping us with the bed assembly after we commandeered their vehicle to put all the boxes in.
Since we were getting a new bed frame, it wasn't that big of a stretch to get a new bedroom set and desk. After all, why have a cherry new bed and surround it by the same old 10 year old wal- mart crap desk and the dresser I have had since I was 5 years old?
Here is my new dresser, assembly was a doosey , but we got it done...
Below is Roxanne's mini-dresser with folding mirror top, our new bookcase with fancy frosted glass door, our new desk with a really heavy frosted glass top, an Ikea lamp, and Ikea wood storage shelves! Those Swedes sure did a number on us...
Louie watches over the last unassembled piece, a small night stand. My goal for tonight is to get it assembled and tomorrow we will rearrange things to make it look awesome and magical. Our bedroom is currently more Swedish than Anders Celsius!!!As usual, Bunny is unamused....

Awesome bedroom set and mattress. You guys are such adults! Does your Ikea also sell $1.00 hot dogs and frozen yogurt? That's what it takes for us to muster up the courage to wind our way through the Ikea rat trap. (Can you image trying to get out in a fire? Scary.)
I, too, always think of the 'fire' scenario when going through Ikea :) Yes, we have the $1 yogurt and, I believe, $0.50 hot dogs?....mmmm
